Digital rectal exam (DRE): The doctor in this test inserts a gloved, lubricated finger into the rectum of the patient to check his prostate gland that is adjacent to detect structural anomalies.
Prostate specific antigen test: In this test a blood sample is taken from a vein in the patients arm and is used for PSA test. The presence of a substance naturally found in the prostate gland is produced. The little amount of PSA in your blood stream is normal.
Biopsy: This test refers to the removal of cells and tissues that are viewed under a microscope. A pathologist checks the biopsy sample to see whether there is any sample of cancer cells or not.
